FIRST: Choose the meat - about 3 - 4 pounds:
1 whole chicken
-- or --
1 chuck roast
-- or --
1 boston butt pork roast
Place meat into a crock pot.
SECOND: Choose the flavor:
Pour one of these over the meat:
1 large jar of your favorite salsa
2 Cups water
- for Mexican flavored meats
-- or --
1 bottle of your favorite BBQ Sauce
2 Cups water
- for Southern pulled meats
-- or --
2 Tablespoons of liquid smoke, and
3 slices fresh ginger root
½ cup soy sauce
3 cups water
- for Hawaiian Kalua meats
Cover. Cook for 8 hours on low heat. Remove meat and discard the sauce. Shred. Provide fresh sauce (Salsa, BBQ Sauce, or Soy Sauce) and condiments.
Use these full flavored and tender meats in enchaladas or other Mexican dishes.
Serve with steamed rice for a Hawaiian meal.
Pull the meat apart and place onto hamburger buns, dot with more BBQ sauce, and enjoy a "pulled" Southern sandwich.
