Raised Waffles

Put in a large mixing bowl:

 1/2 cup lukewarm water
 1 pkg. yeast

Let stand 5 minutes. Add:

 2 cups luke warm milk
 1/2 cup melted butter
 1 teaspoon salt
 1 teaspoon sugar

Beat in:

 2 cups flour
 2 eggs
 pinch of baking soda

Beat well. Batter will be very thin. Cook on a waffle iron.

Makes 6 or more large waffles.    Serve with warm syrup of your choice.

Note: These waffles are innocently light and crisp, giving the impression that hundreds could be consumed. However, they are very filling!

If the waffles are allowed to cool and dry on a cooling rack, they can be packaged and frozen for later use. Re-heat the frozen waffles in a toaster (never in the microwave).
